Why would you be a vegan and not ever participate in protest?

Question by Ashley: Why would you be a vegan and not ever participate in protest?
Why would someone be a vegan, but not ever participate in a protest? It seems to me, that if you were a true vegan, you would be out there picketing, etc.. I am a member of a group that pickets in front of McDonalds at least once a month. I spend hours making up all the signs for our group.

The reason I ask is because I have invited several so called “vegans” to join us and they never join us. I thought most people become vegans because they care, but obviously some become vegan for vanity reasons.

It’s a personal opinion and choice for everyone – vegan or not. Doesn’t mean some vegans don’t care…

How organic is this black mulch you can usually find at nurseries and would it be good to work into clay?

Question by *: How organic is this black mulch you can usually find at nurseries and would it be good to work into clay?
I am wondering if I tilled this black mulch that you usually find at nurseries into clay dirt, if it would make it like a nice topsoil quality type of dirt or not.

and how organic is the stuff used to make black mulch usually?
what is usually in it ?

and would this make the clay dirt drain a lot better by tilling it with this mulch?

thanks for your answers!

The best mulch for clay soil is leaf mulch. I’m not sure if this is what you’re talking about. I’ve used it with great success.

Q&A: Any ideas for tasty vegan foods that non-vegans would enjoy as well?

Question by Lovey: Any ideas for tasty vegan foods that non-vegans would enjoy as well?
We are having a birthday party for a vegan, so obviously we want to serve vegan foods for her. What are some good meat free/dairy free foods that non-vegans will appreciate as much as vegans will? We already have a recipe for chocolate cupcakes, but we still need ideas for the appetizers and etrees.

I have found that you can substitute many things in a recipe and make it vegan. I recently made vegan banana bread. I just substituted cornstarch and lemon juice for the egg, and agave nectar for the honey. I would try just thinking of all the foods you want to serve, vegan or not, and try to convert them to their vegan alternative. That way you can have your cake and eat it too!

What vegan recipe would you recommend to help celebrate my 15 year old son’s birthday?

Question by cassandra: What vegan recipe would you recommend to help celebrate my 15 year old son’s birthday?
He is newly vegetarian, and his “girl friend” is vegan. I know he’d be thrilled if I presented a special meal honoring her choice.

He wants to have a meal with her and watch a movie on our tv with her. That movie is about Palestine, if that helps inspire a theme, but that’s not a necessary theme.

What would you recommend? Please explain techniques/ingredients that might not be readily familiar to a middle aged American.

Thanks so much for your thoughtful replies.

You can make pasta with tomato sauce and veggies like onions, spinach, zucchini, bell peppers, mushrooms and other veggies of your choice.

Or you can also make some good veggie sandwich .

Do you know anyone who would invest in a natural farming approach that i developed over 11yrs research?

Question by NatureLuva: Do you know anyone who would invest in a natural farming approach that i developed over 11yrs research?
After graduating from Uni I was a chemical agronomist for 8 years before i realised that it didn’t matter how much money you spend on chemicals and fertilizers, the weed develop tolerance and the chemicals work less and less each year. So i travelled the world and studied biological farming, biodynamic farming, organic farming….all still very costly to the farmer and are still about making big companies big money. The more and more i researched the more i realised that nature shows you everything you need to do and you can farm with spending very little money and making more in your profit margin. This year i have share farmed through the worst drought australia has seen and i have developed an approach that works and could save farmers a lot of money. I’m looking for someone to invest in at least 5000acres so that i can prove my ideas on a large scale and pay them back over 7- 9 years at 12%, thats a big return for an investor and i will make enough for everyone to live comfortably

Well, no, because a lot of vegetarians do eat fish. My aunt did when she was vegetarian for a while.
I’m not a vegetarian, but I don’t eat cow or pig meat.
