Question by healthy_mind30: How healthy is a Vegan diet? How can you make it more fattening?
I have a 15 month old that is allergic to milk, eggs, chicken, PEANUTS, nuts, and peas. So, I kind of have to put her on a vegan diet. For those who were vegans since babies, did you drink soy milk? That’s all I can give her and I know a lot of vegan recipes have soy in them. The reason that I am concerned is that I keep reading and seeing everywhere that soy is bad for you. This makes me upset because I can’t help that she can only drink soy milk. I forgot to mention that I can’t give her rice milk or coconut milk. Is there anyone that’s been drinking soy milk and eating foods made with soy for many years? Let me know that you are healthy, so I can have some kind of peace of mind? Also, she is underweight from not being able to eat so many things. Any suggestions on how to fatten up her diet? Please help I can’t seem to get a real straight answer out of anyone else.

Best answer:

Answer by Marcus
First of all, soy milk or products made with soy are not necessarily “bad for you.” If you are replacing regular milk with soy milk then you aren’t giving the baby as much vitamin D. My wife drinks soy milk all the time and seems to be as healthy as can be. As far as fattening up her diet, if she isn’t allergic to all dairy products then yogurts and cheeses are good. But if she is then you could try soy yogurt and soy butter on bread. Good luck.

Question by ♥Pearl♥: What are the benefits of a gluten free diet?
This question is for people who have ever tried the gluten free diet or considering a gluten-free diet. Have you felt different ever since you started the gluten free diet? What does it prevent tell me all the benefits. Also if i do a gluten free diet what can and cannot eat. Please give me gluten free diet cons and pros, Thank you for answering my question.

Best answer:

Answer by Vulcan
Oh yes – if you’re having trouble with gluten, a diet can be like a miracle!! The best way to try this is to do the Atkins diet. It cuts out about all the sources of gluten.

I know I was just overcome with joint and muscle pain – it came on slowly over about 10 years. And when I started the Atkins, I knew right away that it was for me. the pain just came off in sheets. If you could get this much good out of pills, the pharmaceutical industry would really be able to cash in!

Get a copy of “New Diet Revolution” – it’s probably in the library – or used off of Amazon Books. Atkins will run you through the diet – it’s quite simple – and very healthy. And just try it for 2 weeks and see if it isn’t a minor miracle for you too.

It could well be that humans aren’t really designed to deal with a lot of gluten. And in America today, we eat this crap by the boxcar full. It’s nice when you stop.

Question by strzelecki1: How do you start an Organic Diet?
I’ve read that for some health conditions I have it would help if I started an organic diet. I know Whole Foods has organic food, but I’m not sure how to start this.

Do you do it gradually?

Are there organic versions of all kinds of foods?

Is it really easier on your liver?

Do you have to cook everything from scratch?

Are there any organic food restaurants in Chicago?

Has anyone switched over and have advice for a newbie?

Best answer:

Answer by SS90
Many grocery stores carry organic food. Most fruits and vegetables come in organic versions. You might want to look at farmers markets in your area – you can get fresh local produce at a better price.

One rule of thumb – fresher the better.
Second rule of thumb – the longer the produce has traveled, less likely it will be fresh!

I do not know if they are better for the liver. I know that organic food does not carry pesticide residues. It is also fresher, and tastes better. It is better for the environment.

It depends on what you mean by scratch. You can get many organic things frozen or even canned. But in general, the more “real” the food is, less additives in there. Generally stick to eating real food rather than synthetic food.

No advice. Just be prepared for a wallet shock. Also, you might want to look into organic ( or at least hormone free) milk. Buy local.

Good luck switching!
